Liposuction (also called Lipoplasty) is a body shaping procedure. It involves removing excess fat. The procedure slims, reshapes and improves body contours. The best candidates for the procedure are healthy women and men who have firm and elastic skin, but their body is disproportionate due to problemem areas where excess fat is deposited and is hard to shift with regular exercise and diet. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia. However if only small amounts of fat tissue are to be removed it cam be performed under local anaesthesia, but it happens very rarely. Liposuction involves small incisions (1-2mm), infusion of a special liquid and then inserting a so-called cannula to loosen excess fat tissue and finally suck out the fat deposits.
